About Matt Marra
I am a former operator that has transitioned to a full-time angel investor and advisor. Currently, I am an active member of Launchpad Venture Group, SideCar Angels, 10x Venture Partners, and numerous Uber Alumni syndicates. I typically work from Portsmouth, NH but also spend time in Boston, MA with founders and investors. My portfolio is focused on B2B SaaS, Marketplaces, AI/ML, and Robotics that typically have an offline operational or data collection component.
After completing a leadership development program at IBM, my business experience shifted into hyperdrive by joining Uber in 2011 (employee #33) as the first Operations and Logistics Manager for the Boston market.
I launched and scaled the Uber Black, TAXI, SUV, and uberX product offerings in the Boston market with the General Manager and Marketing Manager. Later leading the Operations & Logistics Analytics and Process sub-teams during hyper growth periods from 2011 through 2013.
In 2013, I launched, scaled, and supported operations for a second marketplace: Uber Vehicle Solutions (VS). I led VS operations across qualifying East Coast and Midwest cities. Coordinated with participating third-party lender, rental companies, and manufacturers for national offerings. In 2017, I led operations, marketing, and negotiations with participating third-party auto lenders, rental companies, dealerships, and manufacturers for local or national Uber driver-partner offerings while reporting to the CFO.
I started angel investing in 2016 and have had the privilege of supporting founders with my capital and expertise full-time since January 2018. My portfolio on this site is comprised of my employee grants, advisory agreements, and angel investments from Pre-Seed to Series B.
